If you’ve been thinking about getting an electric riser recliner chair, this question would have no doubt crossed your mind but do you understand the difference? If you answered no, you aren’t alone.
Is a dual motor worth the extra outlay? Would I be okay with a single motor? What can’t I do with a single motor that I can do with a dual?
Ultimately, whichever mechanism you decide on is a personal decision that only you can make but with the help of a couple of video tutorials, let’s take a closer look at each to try and help you decide…
A single motor mechanism is typically less expensive than its dual motor counterpart as it uses just the one motor to operate the back and leg movements. Whilst this does restrict the range of movements it can offer you, it could still well be the ideal solution for you.
Take a look at this video put together by Repose to see if an electric single motor riser recliner tilt-in-space mechanism would suit you.
A dual motor riser recliner uses one motor to operate the legrest and another motor to operate the backrest, giving you a much wider range of movements.
The following video, again, expertly created by Repose, explains the Dual Motor Standard mechanism in more detail…
Regardless of which mechanism you choose, the rise function is always the same. Once the chair is in its seated position, at the touch of a button on the easy-to-use handset, the chair will begin to rise. Let go, and the chair will stop until such time you are ready to continue with the elevation and exit your chair.
It is a wise move to leave your chair in its elevated position until you are ready to sit down again. Simply lean against it in the raised position and then using the handset, lower yourself down until you are in your most comfortable seated position.

The chair featured in these videos is the incredibly popular and versatile Rimini Riser Recliner by Repose.
