Riser Recliner Chairs for the Elderly - Why You Don't Want One

Riser Recliner Chairs for the Elderly – Why You Don’t Want One is a blog post about your reasons for not wanting one. We also answer your concerns and welcome any suggestions to add to this post over time.

“They are just so Expensive”

There’s no getting away from the fact that a riser recliner chair is a hefty investment. You will get exactly one pound change from a thousand pounds for our lowest priced chair! (As of 21.04.2022)

The Olympia, pictured below, is our lowest priced chair but you’d never tell. Made by Repose in the Midlands,

Olympia Riser Recliner

We don’t hide it; all our prices are clearly visible on our site. We also don’t shy away from the fact that there are cheaper alternatives out there.

What we are extremely proud of is that all of our riser chairs for the elderly are lovingly and expertly manufactured, right here in the UK by the finest craftspeople in the land. You get an extensive warranty, up to ten years with some suppliers and only the very best components and fabrics are used to make them.

“Riser Recliner Chairs for the Elderly are so Big”

A common misconception.

Gone are the days of riser recliners being overly bulky, stand-out-like-a-sore-thumb, pieces of furniture that do nothing other than assist you in getting to your feet and allowing you to put them up.

Those are still very much the core functions of a mobility chair but they are capable of so much more today and look infinitely more pleasing on the eye.

They’re tailored to fit you and don’t have to be any bigger than your regular armchair!

Learn more about exactly what a riser recliner is in our blog post.

“I Just Don’t Have The Room”

As we’ve just mentioned, they can be made to your exact measurements and generally aren’t any bigger than your regular furniture. Of course, if you need a bigger chair with a heavier weight capacity, our chair weight limits go up to 70 stone or 450 KG which can be found on our Surrey.

If you need your old item of furniture removed to make room for your latest addition, we can take care of that for you too.

“I Don’t Have a Socket Where I Want My Chair to Go”

A rise and recline chair needs to be connected to a power source. If you need your new chair to be in a position where there are no plug sockets or the trailing cables are likely to cause a trip hazard, all is not lost.

Accupak Wireless Chair SystemAn Accupak Wireless Chair System is a rechargeable power pack that allows you to operate your chair throughout the day without the need for it to be connected to a socket and with no cables to trip over.

It lasts for approximately one hundred cycles. You simply disconnect it when it needs to be charged, and repeat.

You can add an Accupak Wireless Chair System to lots of our chairs like the Kingston. Find it in the Electrical Accessories tab that appears once you’ve chosen your chair size, mechanism and fabrics.

“I Use a Wheelchair and I Can’t Access A Rise and Recline Chair”

If you’re able to side transfer, you can opt for a removable arm on your riser chair.  Once detached, you can position your wheelchair alongside, and transfer. The removable arm can then be reattached with ease.

“Riser Recliner Chairs – I Don’t Want to Give In to These Things”

We all want to live a long, healthy life. Some people see investing in things like a riser recliner chair as a slippery slope. We totally understand this mindset.

The more difficult and painful it becomes to get up out of your armchair, human nature suggests the less likely we are to do it.

The opposite is also true. If you suddenly have something that allows you to stand more easily, the more likely you are to do it.

We recommend getting up and moving around for at least 5 minutes for every hour that you’re sat down. This encourages good circulation, supple joints and strengthens muscles.
